Interested in volunteering at the Canvas?
There are several ways to volunteer with the Canvas. We are generally looking for people who would like to volunteer for day habilitation, special events, or helping out in the ceramics studio.
Day Habilitation Volunteer
Volunteers who are able to commit to at least six months of regular service are welcome to volunteer in the Canvas studio with our day habilitation classes. This long term, regular commitment allows both the volunteer and the REACH artists to develop meaningful relationships. Volunteers in the day habilitation classes work directly with the artists on their individual projects, as well as on daily living skills and socialization goals. This volunteer service can take the form of any activity ranging from working on art projects to working on conversation skills with REACH artists. The presence of these volunteers adds to the positive experiences that artists have while at the Canvas. The hours volunteered are often used as proof of community supports for grants and other funding.
Special Event / One Time Volunteer
Volunteers who are unable to commit to at least six months of regular service but who still want to support the Canvas as they are available are able to assist us with our special events, such as our annual Halloween Party, and other one-time only occasions such as special cleaning, organizing, or renovation projects. Because these volunteers expect nothing in return for their service, their presence is invaluable and the time that they contribute to the Canvas ensures that others have positive experiences while participating in our programming. Additionally, the Canvas is often able to count hours served by these volunteers as community supports for grants and other funding.
To apply, print and fill out the forms below and bring them in in person.
